The AIA has been around a long time – 115 years – and aims to serve as a resource to help make the Los Angeles region more delightful, healthier, more sustainable and economically competitive through efforts in advocacy, education, networking and outreach. AIA members are actively engaged in the industry and local architect community, while resources are also dedicated to assisting the general public in researching and working with member architects.
The pursuit of education and continuing professional development, for members and non-members alike, is a dedicated focus of the AIA Los Angeles. Educational opportunities – from classes to ARE seminars and Small Firm Workshops – are designed to help architects renew mandatory licensing and maintain AIA membership.
The AIA|LA has a number of programs that help serve the public. Along with a full monthly calendar of events, many of which are open to the public, the Tour Series features beautiful houses by Los Angeles architects and designers. The public can see the homes, talk to the architects or designers, and discover new designs for living.
If you are looking to find, research and know more about working with an architect, the AIA|LA is also a valuable resource. Regardless of how big your project is, the organization helps you contact some of the world’s most talented architects, with access to more than 20,000 architectural firms. There are also some valuable tools at your disposal, including advice on how to select an architect, as well as the right questions to ask. You can also learn more about the standard agreement forms between you and your architect and download the comprehensive set of legal documents that govern the various relationships involved.
