Whether you are vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, or just looking to cut down on calories, these restaurants will account for your diet without disappointing your tastebuds. All three have multiple locations across California; both inside and outside of the South Bay.
This restaurant has locations across California and specializes in salads, sandwiches, and entrees using fresh, seasonal ingredients. The menu includes a curried cauliflower salad, and a citrus-poached salmon sandwich--just to name a few.
Chef Alan Jackson opened Lemonade in 2009 after making his career in fine dining. He brings that high-cuisine philosophy to everything that he serves at Lemonade. There are now 28 locations across California. Once you’ve had a healthy meal, top it off with a cold pressed lemonade made from seasonal fruit.
Veggie Grill’s slogan is “Eat More Veggies,” and the restaurant’s menu allows you to do just that. This is another local chain, with more than 30 locations throughout California, including several in the South Bay.
All menu items are free of meat, dairy, eggs, and other animal products, but that does not mean it’s lacking in flavor. The menu features vegetarian versions of your favorite burgers, wings, tacos, and more. Stop in with friends to sample some of the delicious choices.
The Flame Broiler
If you crave a little meat in your diet, look no further than The Flame Broiler for a healthy alternative to fast food. As the name suggests, all meat is prepared on the grill using minimal oil and other fat.
Choose from chicken, beef, or tofu served over a bed of rice or steamed veggies. Calorie counts range from 370 for the smallest size to 1100 for the largest size. The meat itself is high quality, too. The Flame Broiler chicken is all natural and hormone free, and the beef is grass-fed and 100 percent Angus.
